This guide is intended for use by individuals with administrator responsibilities in the College of William and Mary's digital repository aka DSpace aka digital archive aka institutional repository. Individuals interested in establishing an account or submitting material should consult the DSpace User Manual. For assistance, contact Amy Schindler (acschi@wm.edu) or Ute Schechter (uxsche@wm.edu).
The
To Do list of potential projects will also be of interest to administrators.
Restricting an Item's Record
- *Sign in to the digital archive.
- *Navigate to the item you wish to restrict.
- *Select the "Edit" button at the top of the item record.
- *At "Item's Authorizations:" click "Edit".
- *"Policies for Item 10288/883 (ID=1257)" (with applicable numbers) will be at the top of the screen. The "Item Policy" is where you would restrict access to the entire record. Below that, "Policies for Bundle XYZ" is where you would restrict access to individual files uploaded with the record.
- *Let's restrict access to the entire record. You should see a small gray & white table with the action "READ" and the group anonymous assigned. Click "Edit."
- *Select appropriate group from the list of groups. Leave the action as "READ" and click "Save."
- *The record should be restricted, but the usual brief delay, need to refresh, and maybe open in a new browser window applies to ensure that your intended changes have gone through.
Approving Theses and Dissertations
- >insert procedures for required elements
- After a new thesis or dissertation has been approved and added to the digital repository, the administrator will remove the user's access to submit to any collections or communities. Future requests from the user to submit to other collections will be considered by staff as appropriate.
